The Seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) System & Protection was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and organized by the Qingdao Municipal Intellectual Property Service Center.
The Seminar was scheduled on September 22 until October 21, 2008 and the topics for discussion included, among other things, implementing an IP strategy for Qingdao, IPR Basics and International IPR Protection System, and Role of IPR in Economic Development & the Trade- Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).
This blog is dedicated to all the wonderful people who took part in this 30-day journey. It is about the lesons they have learned, the experiences they encountered, the culture they have imbibed, and the lives they have touched.
This blog was constructed as a first step towards enhancing IP system and protection, not only in China, but in the world. But, more importantly, this blog was made to continue and strengthen the friendships and ties that have been forged in this truly breath-taking city.
It is true that a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Ensuring the protection and development of intellectual property rights is definitely a daunting task. No person, agency, or government can do it on its own. But this Seminar is definitely a necessary first step in the right direction.
As we read through this blog and contribute our own thoughts, ideas, and experiences, let us be guided by the eternal words of Confucius, "Isnt't it delightful to have friends coming from afar?"
